Colorado Springs Balloon Classic

Description:

Held each Labor Day weekend, the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic is the largest and oldest hot air balloon festival in the State of Colorado.  Balloon teams come from all over the U.S. to participate in this event.  The event runs Friday through Sunday and includes concessions similar to a state fair, rides, live music and wonderful sights.

Emma Crawford Festival (Wake, Coffin Race & Parade)

Description: Emma Crawford Festival - late October, held in Manitou Springs is this unique and slightly macabre festival, a coffin race held to remember Emma Crawford, an early 20th century young lady who died young and whose remains were washed down Red Mountain after granite gave way at the top.

Description: Teller County Fair held in early August

Mountain Arts Festival

Description: Mountain Arts Festival - early August, two days of art displays, performances and other events.

Festival of Lights

Description: Festival of Lights - early December, an annual parade, arts, crafts and live music performances. Held in Downtown Colorado Springs.

Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo

Description: Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo - mid-July, a professional rodeo featuring bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding as well as carnival rides and wild horse races.

Independence Day Fireworks

Description:

Independence Day - July 4th, celebrations held at Memorial Park. Hear the sounds of the symphony orchestra while the fireworks go off over the lake.

The Air Force Academy is another place to see fireworks.  Take Exit 156A from I-25.  Take the first left (traffic light) as you come off the ramp.  All along Struthers Road, on the left side are some open fields where you can park and watch the show.

iMPORTANT NOTE:

It is illegal for any person to possess or discharge any fireworks, other than sanctioned displays in the city of Colorado Springs. ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL, that includes Roman candles, cherry bombs, M-100's, M-80's, shells and mortars, helicopters, bottle rockets, and sparklers, to name a few.
